“To me, art making is the tool that I have chosen to explore my life with. This process involves an attentive observation of the whole spectrum of my personal experiences. I then enter a kind of question and answer mode about what is the meaning of what has happened to me. My work rarely depicts what is literally around me. I use visual imagery to express interpretations that tell a story of my awareness or understanding.”

Her works can be found in the collections of the Hawaii State Art Museum, Contemporary Museum of Honolulu, Honolulu Museum of Art, the City & County of Honolulu, Diaspora Museum in Korea, International Graphics Center in Venice, Italy, Biblioteque National de Paris, France, and Taidehlli Museum in Finland.

Kamran Samimi

Kamran Samimi presents different ways to observe the world around us.  While his materials and techniques vary, Kamran creates works of art which are both a tribute and response to the rich landscapes found throughout Hawai’i. Through the use of dissection, repetition, and abstraction, he seeks to uncover the essence within all things, ultimately encouraging mindful contemplation.
